PUNE, INDIA — SEPTEMBER 4, 2026

Exactitude Consultancy has published its EV Cables Market 2025-2035 research report, forecasting the global market for electric vehicle charging cables to expand from USD 5.79 billion in 2025 to USD 11.6 billion by 2035, a compound annual growth rate of 7.2% over the decade. Growth is driven by the accelerating global adoption of electric vehicles, expansion of public and private charging infrastructure, and regulatory support for sustainable mobility across all major automotive markets.

The report identifies three primary product categories — AC charging cables, DC fast charging cables, and charging station cables — with DC fast charging cables representing the fastest-growing sub-segment. As commercial charging networks and highway corridor deployments increasingly favor higher-power DC installations, the value mix of the cables market is shifting toward higher-specification and higher-margin products. By 2035, DC cable revenue is projected to exceed AC cable revenue for the first time, a reversal from the current market composition.

Regional analysis in the report identifies Asia-Pacific as the largest and fastest-growing regional market. China accounts for over 55% of global EV cable demand in 2025 as a function of both domestic EV production volumes and the scale of the country's public charging network buildout. Europe remains the second-largest regional market, driven by explicit EU regulatory targets for internal combustion vehicle phaseout and coordinated highway charging corridor investment. North American demand is growing more slowly on a percentage basis but from a substantial base, with growth concentrated in states with aggressive EV mandates.

The competitive landscape remains fragmented but is consolidating. Established automotive cable suppliers (Leoni, Nexans, Prysmian, Sumitomo) compete with specialized EV cable manufacturers and, increasingly, with vertically integrated charging station manufacturers who are internalizing cable production. The report identifies vendor selection criteria as increasingly weighted toward high-power certification, thermal management performance in continuous fast-charging cycles, and demonstrated durability across public-use deployment conditions.

"What most infrastructure investors are underweighting is the mix shift within the cables category itself," said the lead analyst on the report. "A DC fast-charging cable capable of sustained 350 kW operation is not simply a heavier version of the AC cable it is replacing — it involves different materials, different manufacturing tolerances, and different failure modes. The vendors positioned to win the next decade of demand are not necessarily the ones who dominate today's installed base."

The report further identifies three structural drivers that support the growth forecast beyond baseline EV adoption assumptions: municipal and highway operator investment in dedicated charging corridors, corporate fleet electrification adding predictable off-hour charging demand at scale, and residential charging normalizing as an expected utility infrastructure category rather than a discretionary consumer purchase. Each driver operates on a different timeline and geography, producing a growth pattern that is more resilient to individual regional policy changes than a pure passenger-vehicle-adoption model would suggest.

The complete report includes detailed segmentation across cable types, applications (residential, commercial, public), regional demand forecasts through 2035, competitive analysis of over 25 vendors, and scenario modeling under three EV adoption trajectories.
